Following a recent article on the Mail Online about how British women, like Carrie Bradshaw, are totally addicted to shoes and spend a staggering £3.5 billion on them collectively every year, I thought I would dedicate a post to shoes.
According to the article we own 19 pairs of shoes but only wear 7 and two thirds never making it out of the box. Now I don't know about you but I have way more than 19 pairs of shoes and am pretty sure that I wear more than 7 pairs of them, however, I decided to try and create a capsule shoe collection to cater for every outfit, occasion and eventuality...
In order to do this I have created sub categories of footwear; these include boots, casual wear, heels and summer, and believe me, its a lot harder than i anticipated to keep the number of footwear to a minimum. I just counted my collection and I have near on 50 pairs because I like to think that variety is the spice of life and my shoe wardrobe is full of a selection of ankle boots, wedges, slouchy calf boots, knee high boots, leopard print chelsea boots, studded boots, biker boots, cowboy boots, studded pumps, brogues, leopard print pumps, snake print pumps, heels in every style, colour & print and sandals (that I never wear because its too cold). I absolutely love shoes and how they can shape an outfit so here is my homage to them in an attempt to capture a perfect capsule wardrobe which I think, could be done in 20 pairs, if you are conservative about colour & patterns!
Let me know how many pairs you have & happy shoe shopping!
Biker boot - to create a rock chick look:
Cowboy boots - to add a little western touch to an outfit
Pumps: Pumps are a must have item for every wardrobe for summer and winter, and you can never have too many pairs, especially if you get them from Primark. I have studded, leopard, snake-print, tan and black ones to co-ordinate with any outfit!
