Rules of Jumpsuits

One trend that I feel must be worn with care is the jumpsuit. Now I am a big fan of a jumpsuit, and own a few myself, however you have to make sure that you apply certain rules when wearing one to ensure that they flatter your figure and accentuate all the right features.

 The rules:

  • Make sure the jumpsuit is fitted at the waist area, either by pulling it in at the waist with a belt to accentuate the smallest area of your upper body, or look out for a jumpsuit which is elasticated at the waist or top half of the body.
  • Keep it neat and tailored rather than baggy to keep it flattering. I am not saying go for skin-tight at all but make sure if follows the shape of your body rather than hanging off you and making you look bigger than you actually are.
  • Make sure the trousers are either elastic at the ankles or peg leg trousers so they come in at the ankle. This accentuates the smallest part of every womans body
Here are a few examples of what I mean:

ASOS

I love this and actually own it in a camel colour from last summer and it is perfect for a night out on the town. Add a belt to accentuate the waist again. Note the sleek tailoring & flattering shape.

Boo hoo

Perfect for holiday - the top is fitted bandeau and just add a brown/gold belt to nip in at the waist a bit

Miss Selfridge

Again add a belt to nip in the waist and some gold accessories to glam up a bit and its perfect for summer nights

Its not a trend for all of us, but if you get the jumpsuit right, it can look sexy, glamorous & chic - remember, just apply the rules above & you will be guaranteed to score a hit!!

Happy Shopping : )
